Farm Fresh Eggs
We offer eggs from our free-ranging, happy flock for purchase on a weekly basis. We are currently receiving about 3–4 dozen eggs a day on average from our chickens, and about 1–2 dozen a day from our ducks — if you need more than a dozen for making baked goods, or a special weekend breakfast or brunch, don’t be afraid to ask!
Chicken Eggs are $3.50 a dozen, Duck Eggs are $8.00 a dozen (available seasonally) and a Half & Half variety pack with six chicken and six duck eggs is $5.75 a dozen. All are available here on the farm near Fenton, or by request in the Downtown Detroit area weekdays during working hours. We just need a day’s notice to let us know how many you need for delivery to Detroit. For pickup on the farm, we do recommend contacting us in advance to insure availability, as our girls eggs are quite popular.
Some feedback from our customers about the eggs:
Scrambled up a dozen of your farm eggs Sunday morning when we were visiting some friends at their cottage on Matteson Lake in Branch County — I’d swear that they had a better, stronger flavor than the usual supermarket eggs. Congrats. And this weekend, the other dozen is going into a big fat quiche. Ham and broccoli and onion.
I have my grandchildren every Friday night (Nama night — 7, 5 & 17 mos.). Saturday mornings we make a total mess in the kitchen making breakfast, as I let them “help” with loving supervision, but giving them experience of doing for themselves. So, having said that, I pulled out the your eggs. The two oldest, 7 & 5 (Tyler and Ari) were appalled! Brown eggs, they must be bad… So I explained about the eggs and how fresh they were. They were still eyeing them dubiously, so, I trotted over to my laptop, sat down and pulled up your website to show them the “happy” chickens (Arianna really likes the goats though). Leia, the 17 month old, kept pointing at the screen and say “chica” as she watches Sprout and loves the Sunnyside Up show! We went back into the kitchen where they proceeded to crack the eggs and scramble them (the extent of their culinary skill right now). THEY LOVED ‘EM! They said they were the best eggs. Of course, what I left out was that it was a 5 minute process for them to “pick” two eggs a piece out of the carton. Tyler went with the large softly shaded eggs. Ari, went for a dark brown and a speckled (polka dot egg as she calls it). I would love to say that Leia loved them too, how ever, she eats any thing and cleaned her plate as usual, so it is safe to assume she liked the eggs as well! This week, I am going to get 2 dozen if George has them.
Had fried egg sandwiches for dinner Friday evening!!! Thanks — they hold together better than store eggs — when you put them in the fryin’ pan they don’t spread out to all corners of the pan — these eggs stay together with plump yolks — Thanks
When’s the next egg drop? Had some grocery store eggs tonight– they were extremely lackluster. I think I’m spoiled!
One of the things I like best about your eggs is the hardness of the shells. You never know when you get them in the store — the shells are often paper-thin. And they taste so much better than the store eggs!
We’d love to hear your feedback and stories about how you are using the eggs, and if you have photos of your culinary creations, and/or a recipe, please let us share those here!
