Seedling Progress

I’ve spent the last two days getting the remaining seedlings transplanted into larger pots. I had hoped to use all peat pots, but my local sources were all sold out, and I had to get these babies done ASAP, so we resorted to plastic cups. I’m going to make sure I have what I need well in advance of the rush next year! I’ll just have to be very careful about maintaining the moisture levels in the cups due to their lack of drainage. Poking holes in the bottom really isn’t an option, as they just split apart. Oh well, these will all be going in the ground in a few weeks anyway.

How many total plants, you ask? About 300. You can see all of the varieties on my Seed Spreadsheet. I also have some potato starts I need to get planted this weekend. I’ve been hemming and hawing about whether I’m going to put them into the ground, grow them in buckets, or try the growing in straw method. I’m still not sure. Anyone out there have a recommendation?
