One of our girls is laying a pinkish or lavender-hued egg now, and we are very excited about it! I’m not sure if it’s one of our Easter Eggers, or another breed, because I haven’t caught the culprit in the act, but it doesn’t matter who’s producing them – she’s doing a beautiful job!
It’s difficult to fully appreciate the color without seeing it in person, but I’ve attempted to capture the difference between it and the other eggs in this photo. See if you can pick out the egg in question.
Our Easter Egger hens have the potential to lay pink, blue, and green eggs. Each hen has her own special color; one chicken does not lay multi-colored eggs. I am really hoping for some green and blue eggs from the next girls who come into laying maturity!
So those of you who buy eggs from us, watch your carton – you may have a special colored egg in yours coming soon!
