Not fretting quite so much…

We are about to go take our son to his favorite Sunday destination: McDonald’s. (Well, truthfully, it’s the PlayPlace that is his focus.) So this will be quick.

The little goat ladies seem to be doing fine – I heard from both our vet and the breeders last night and it sounds like it’s just an issue of getting these little babies adjusted to their diet properly. I am going to be adding yogurt into their routine and hopefully the probiotics will assist their rumens in getting established.

The chickens are doing fine. We dispatched the troublemakers yesterday with the assistance of my brother, who is an experienced hunter. We did discover that they were too small for any significant meat, but they did not go to waste, either. My brother has been trying to thin a growing coyote pack on the property where he lives, and so they will be used for bait. The culling process was quite educational for us.

We do have quite a few roosters in our coop of friendly birds, but we will be attempting to find our extras new homes. Our breeds are quite nice, and these roosters are sociable, so I am hoping someone will be in search of a good protector of their flock and give them a good home when the time comes. I will be keeping at least one, and possibly two, if they can get along.

Well, we’re off to “Old McDonald’s” as the boy calls it!
