Buddy Hen In The House

I mean that both in the literal sense, as well as the slang phrase, in which I am making a laudatory statement regarding her performance. You see, we’ve had an issue with the chickens getting far too cozy up on our front porch, and they apparently held a Poop Rally this afternoon. We got home from the feed store and TSC and were greeted by a very disgusting sight at our front door, necessitating the removal of all extraneous items and a cleansing purge via pressure washer.

Toasty!

However, simultaneous with the commencement of cleaning, Buddy Hen arrived, in hopes of enjoying some chips. We’ve attempted to lure her into the house on past occasions, and have succeeded in getting her to stand in the threshold, but she’d never come any further. Today, that all changed.

She was rewarded for her bravery with some overdone toast from this morning’s breakfast that I had been saving in the chicken snack bowl, and did she ever enjoy it!

She was so well-behaved, as usual, and never pooped for the entire time she was inside (about 25-30 minutes.) In fact, she was reluctant to go back outside, as there were still crumbs on the floor, and she didn’t want to leave a mess! (Also, I think the warmer temperature and dryer conditions here in the house were also appealing.)

This little bird just makes me smile, every time. 🙂 Don’t mind the R2 beeps during the video; that’s just my text alert on my phone. If you are really curious, I’ll even tell you what he’s saying.
