It’s Booger-Freezin’ Cold

That’s right. I said it. And if you live in Michigan, you know it’s true.

The chickens are rather vexed that I won’t open up the coop door this morning so that they can get outdoors, but at 10 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s just too cold. As a former co-worker of mine who lived in Minnesota used to say, “Colder than a witches titty in a brass bra.” (With apologies to all of the upstanding witches out there. You know you have better taste in undergarments, anyway!)

We really need to get some heated buckets for the barn. Those poor goats are going to end up getting their tongues stuck to the ice blocks that form, otherwise.

I brought hot water down this morning to try and melt it, with minimal success. And, of course, hot water freezes at a faster rate than cold, so I’m sure I’ve just compounded the problem.

I’m indoors for a bit to warm up, eat breakfast, and catch up on my email. (Also, to enjoy our Kitschmas decor!) Then I’m back outdoors on ice bucket patrol!

We hope you enjoy this blog and the antics of our farm. Please check out our fan page on Facebook, and if you use Twitter, by all means, please add us there!
