Handmade goat’s milk soap is something we’ve said we would make once the girls started milking, and I think we are finally going to be able to start doing that soon!
I’ve been doing a lot of reading about cold process soap making, and from what I’ve seen, The Soap Maker’s Companion seems to be a good book for learning the basics. We are planning on picking up a copy tonight, and getting our supplies on order in the next few days.
Frankly, it’s all a bit overwhelming, but what undertaking isn’t when you are are taking the first steps into it? I have found some online calculators that seem like they will be helpful, and there seems to be quite a bit of discussion forums dedicated to the subject.
Do you make soap? What’s your favorite type?
Once we’ve perfected our “soap recipe” to our liking, we’ll offer it for sale, both locally as well as shipped!
