Well, it’s about time I updated with some recent goat photos, isn’t it? As always, click on the photos to enlarge and scroll through the album. And yes, you are going to notice some new goats in the herd!
We are looking forward to some births starting within the next few weeks – not only will this mean adorable goat babies bouncing around the barn, it will also bring us some more milk – which is much needed, as we have had to start the lactation dry-offs for some of our pregnant girls who were providing a lot of our milk. Goats need the last two months of their five month gestation off from milking in order to dedicate all of their resources to nourishing the developing kids they are carrying. We staggered out our girls pregnancies this year as much as we could in order to keep a continuous milk supply going, but their production is still quite down from where we were even a month ago! So we look forward to all of the girls refreshing over the next few months. I’m really anticipating posting some baby photos up soon.
If you are local to the area, and might be interested, or know someone who is – we have a couple of items for sale on Craigslist. Please pass these listings on accordingly – as always, funds from these sales support the farm!
